Soybean is a legume plant, high protein value grown as food for both humans and animals. Soybean belongs to the Fabaceae (legume) family, as well as beans, lentils and peas. It is used in food, especially in the edible oils industry.



Soybean oil is the most used by the population during food preparation. It is also extensively used in animal feed. Other products include oils derived from soy flour, soap, cosmetics, resins, paints, solvents and biodiesel.
