Caçador, a small city in the southern part of Brazil was just emancipated when the fist Europeans immigrants started arriving attracted by the prosperous woodworking activities in the region. The exuberant Brazilian pine native forest and the development impetus of new people brought fame to young city, which during 40"s was already known as the Brazilian woodworking capital city and the biggest producer of native pine solid wood.
During the same period arrived in the city Mr. Gerhard Fezer, a German immigrant that came to the place to work as a mechanic. In August 1948 started the company Fezer Reinehr Cia Ltda, a little shop producing wood pulp equipments and repairing and constructing of sawmill machinery. After few years the company changed the name to Fezer, Telöken & Cia Ltda and at the end of 50quot;s was already producing equipment for wood veneer and plywood production.
An important milestone came in 1958 when the first peeling lathe was produced and 1964 with the first veneer slicer. The regional operating company till that time started growing up and new markets were developed, quickly bringing the need for new products and increase of its factory buildings which happened in 1974 when a technology transference partnership was established with one of the biggest machinery producers in Europe. A new factory was built where the company is nowadays located and the name was changed to Fezer S.A Indústrias Mecânica, used till the present.
A successful history was started. A large and brand new factory, modern equipments and innovated products under European license brought good results which repeated year after year.
Still in 1974 the first peeling lathe with European technology was delivered. In 1976 the first exportation to Bolivia and 1978 the company was already crossing the ocean with overseas deliveries in Hungary, Fiji Island and Senegal.
The international market came true and the company"s solid as the most important veneer and plywood equipment supplier for the local market brought the need for a new factory expansion which happened in 1988 when a new factory and new office were built, totalizing more than 20.000m² factory area in about 25 hectares land area. During its whole history Fezer has constant evolution and expansion, new machining equipments were bought and have been modernized which gives to the company a large machining capability with computerized or conventional machines of various sizes, becoming a country reference for products and custom services.
Nowadays Fezer count on 200 employees producing a complete set of equipment for sliced veneer production (decorative veneer) and rotary veneer production (plywood veneer) among other equipments for woodworking business. The company has its own design and product development center using the most advanced CAD/CAM tools and the state of the art automation.
With constant evolution and innovation, Fezer became one of the most important suppliers in the world and a reference on its business sector. The products are sold worldwide and in important markets such as USA, Canada, China, Russia, Finland, New Zealand and many countries in Europe.
During its whole history the company had its efforts focused to product quality, customer satisfaction and the employees" development and satisfaction, once they are the main company power and reason for the successful.
