Description
Levofloxacin has strong antibacterial activity against most Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Shigella, Salmonella, Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and other G-bacteria. It also has antibacterial effect on G+ bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chemicalbook pneumoniae, but the effect on anaerobic bacteria and enterococci is poor. Levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and gemifloxacin enhance the effect of G+ bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes and microorganisms such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila in the community, so they are also called "respiratory quinolones".
