Azelaic acid is a dermatological drug used to treat acne, melasma and skin melanin. It is also an important intermediate in organic synthesis, and is also used in the synthesis of plasticizers in plastics, rubber and other industries, in the synthesis of low-temperature and high-speed lubricants in aviation fuel, and in the manufacture of electrolytic capacitors.
Chemical properties: white to yellowish monoclinic prismatic crystals, needle-like crystals or powders. The melting point is 106.5 °C, the boiling point > 360 (partial decomposition), 226 °C (1.33kPa), 287 °C (13.3kPa), the relative density 1.225 (25/4 °C), and the refractive index 1.4303 (111 °C). Soluble in hot water, alcohol and hot benzene, slightly soluble in water, ether and benzene.
Uses: 1. Most of the azelaic acid is used in the production of dioctyl azelaate (DOZ) plasticizer, and other uses are used as raw materials for fragrances, lubricating oils, oils, and polyamide resins. DOZ is used as a cold-resistant plasticity for cables, films, artificial leather, etc., with low volatility and good aging resistance. DOZ can also be used as a softener for synthetic rubber.
2. Azelaic acid can be used as a reagent, but also used in organic synthesis, such as can be used as a raw material for the production of plasticizer dioctyl azelaate and fragrances, lubricating oils, oils, and polyamide resins. In addition, azelaic acid is widely used in medicine and cosmetics.
