Description
A white or yellowish homogeneous paste, almost odorless and tasteless, is a mixture of liquid and solid paraffin hydrocarbons. The relative density is 0.815~0.830, the viscosity is 0.01~0.02Pa·s (100 °C), the flash point is greater than 190 °C (open), and the dropping point is about 37~54 °C. Soluble in ether, petroleum ether, a variety of fatty oils, benzene, carbon disulfide, chloroform and turpentine, insoluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in water. When heated, it becomes a transparent liquid that fluoresces in dark places after being irradiated with ultraviolet light. According to the different scope of use and production requirements, petroleum jelly is now roughly divided into ordinary petroleum jelly, industrial petroleum jelly, capacitor petroleum jelly, cosmetic petroleum jelly, pharmaceutical petroleum jelly, food grade petroleum jelly, etc
