Acesulfame potassium, E950, Cas number 55589-62-3, also known as acesulfame potassium or Acek, a calorie-free artificial sweetener manufactured through a chemical synthesis process with diketone and sulfamic acid as the main raw materials. A 3% acesulfame potassium solution is 200 times sweeter than sucrose and as sweet as aspartame, about 2/3 of sodium saccharin and 1/3 of sucralose. It is easily soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. It is used as a sweetener in food and beverage products.
