Description
Cassava starch (also known commercially as sweet tapioca starch) is a starch extracted from the roots of cassava. It is a white, fine, odorless, and tasteless powder that is widely used for its gelling, thickening, and binding properties.
### Main Industrial Uses
* **Food Industry:** Used as a thickener in sauces, binder in sausages (such as sausages), a texturing agent in cheese breads, biscuits and bakery foods, in addition to being an excellent base for *gluten-free* products.
Paper & Paperboard Industry: Acts as an adhesive in the manufacture of corrugated board and as a surface bonding agent to improve the strength and printability of paper.
Textile Industry: Applied to cotton yarn gum to increase mechanical strength during the weaving process.
